New Idea

Without a branch office closer than 2 hours from my house, I'm very frustrated that all tickets don't have the ability to be e-mailed. We are very much spur of the moment people. On Friday we may decide to hop in the car on Saturday morning and take off for parts unknown. I'm not going to drive out of my way to get a $6 discount. It's to the point that I'm very much considering canceling my (15+ yr) membership

Car sign saying "Call AAA ."

Status: New Idea
by on ‎06-10-2011 10:38 AM

Hi Community Members,

I recently received an email from a member with a product suggestion and wanted to see what all of you thought of the idea.  Feel free to vote for or against the idea and share your own opinions in the thread.

Amy

"How wonderful is this!! - for while I was driving to work this morning I thought of a great suggestion to submit to AAA and then when I arrive to work I see an email from AAA in my in-box. Example: I have a huge fold-up cardboard sign in my car that can hook to the back of the vehicle that reads in very large print CALL POLICE, however, most times when I'm stuck on the road I do not need the police - I need AAA. I'm a Mom, the only person in the family that can work and drive, caring for 3-disabled family members that can not work or drive, therefore, money is my household is tight - just like most households. I do not own a cell phone and most likely would stay in my car with the windows up and the doors locked until an officer shows up. Suggestion: Would AAA please consider to make a huge plastic, easy-to-fold-up-small, bright colored sign with long tie strings, that will easily tie onto any part of the vehicle, with large print that reads: CALL AAA 800-222-4357?. "

Pet Friendly

My family are going on vacation in May and plan to take our small active and happy dog.  I have spent many hours looking for pet friendly accomodations that allow you to leave your unattended pet in the room for awhile and not add additional charge, a doggy day care that lets your pet interact with other dogs throughout the day (and not charge an arm and leg), restaurants that are pet friendly as long as you and your pet eat outside.  I found these by using many, many, search engines and it was worth it.  I think it would be great if AAA had the availability for the members to have one place to search instead.

I'm just thinking about picking my jaw up off the floor here shortly as it fell there upon seeing the prices & "discounts" we are offered via Hertz for car rental.  The price I was quoted with the AAA member discount was TWICE as much as other car rental agencies WITHOUT getting a discount.  Does this make any sense to anyone because, for the life of me, I cannot find the logic.  I have had great customer service from at least 3 other rental agencies in the past so I'm really not willing to hear that its the service.  Even if it were, I would take a 50% cost reduction in exchange for no one smiling at me or buttering me up at all.  The cars they rent are the same cars, no better, no worse.  So, I give - what is it that makes them worth TWICE the cost?  Furthermore, can AAA not partner with a more reasonably priced rental agency for us??

Headlights

It would be very inexpensive for automobile manufacturers to add a relay to the Windshield Wipers so that they would automatically turn on the headlights when it is raining. Even though it is a law in many states and is also a very big safety factor there are still too many people who disregard it.    It would be a safety feature just like seat belts which were only an option many years ago...Thank You, Steven Cina

Tow my boat

by on ‎10-06-2010 07:57 AM

Wouldn’t it be great if AAA could tow my boat when I run out of gas or have engine problems on the water.  That way AAA could rescue me on both land and sea.  It would also keep me from having multiple membership plans.

The top selling muscle coupes in America

Status: New Idea
by briemcula on ‎04-15-2015 01:13 AM

There’s just something special about a well-built American muscle car. Their menacing designs just look fast. Chevrolet’s Camaro, Dodge’s Challenger, and Ford’s Mustang remain the top three contenders for the title of bestselling muscle car. While we could compare polls, horsepower, 0-60 times, and other stats, the most telling statistic of all is sales. Here’s a look at how the top 3 American muscle cars stack up against each other when it comes to 2015 sales.

How do we help women learn to fish?

Status: New Idea
by on ‎02-25-2015 09:13 AM

Fishing is so much fun but can be a bit bewildering for beginners. What is the best way to spread the word about weekend events to teach women and teens fishing skills? Ladies, Let's Go Fishing offers four events in Florida:

March 14-15 Ft. Myers/Matlacha

April 17-19 South Florida

May 29-31 Treasure Coast

November 13-15 Keys/Islamorada

All offer hands-on skill practice and a chance to go fishing on the water as well!

Sad about change in campground guides

Status: New Idea
by paddlepuff on ‎03-03-2014 04:40 PM

I would like to see AAA return to the former style of campground guides. They were much more usable for me than the Woodall's guides that are now given to members.  They were easier to go leaf through, easier to read, and it is easier for me to take just the guides for state/s I need on a trip.  Sometimes I fly to a state with my tent, and this Woodall guide is way to big to take on airplane.

AAA Internet Service Bad Experience

Status: New Idea
by on ‎12-30-2013 09:43 AM

In 2013 we booked a room at Holiday Inn Express.  Upon checkout they said it was booked thru Expedia, I said no, it was book on aaa.  They refused to give me a room receipt.  Why?  Because they charged $50 for incidentals on our charge card.  I was furious, our agent never heard of that.  They FINALLY took the charge off.

Today, Dec. 30th.  Another on-line problem.  I paid our Membership fee on 11/25/13 for my husband only, took my name off the membership..  I went on-line to check room rates yesterday and it said we did not have an account.  I called and was told our membership number changed.  Why didn't my husband get a new card?????

I personally don't think you should book, pay or do anything but view stuff on the website.

Corporate Account

I'm always raving to employees, especially when they are late to to work after car trouble, about how they should join AAA. Not only would it make me feel better that they are handling the situation safely, but that they will also not miss work because they couldnt get their car towed or dont have the funds, etc. As HR manager, I would love to be able to offer voluntary  memberships to employees at a discount, even if minimal, and faciliate payment by deduction through payroll. Is it available and I'm missing out on it or can we get it done? Thank you! :-)

Hanging Handicapped Driver Tags

Status: New Idea
by on ‎08-29-2013 02:13 PM

Those blue, and sometimes red, hanging handicapped driver tags are driving me NUTS!  Doesn't anybody see what is clearly printed on the top of those tags?  It definitely states that the tag should be REMOVED BEFORE DRIVING.  They are simply for preferred parking and preferred access due to the handicapping condition of the driver.  Yet these handicapped drivers continue to hang the tags from their mirrors while in transit, thus somewhat  blocking their vision.  You would think that these people would NOT want the world to know they were driving "handicapped."

AAA asks on the web "Do you have an idea for a new or better product or service?"  How about holding a contest for anyone with a new product in the travel industry.  Many of the larger fortune 500 companies are starting to support new inventors.  Its the American way to to come up with new ideas.  It will be a win, win for both the inventor and AAA.

Hi.  The CONTACT US categories doesn't include GENERAL INQUIRIES.  I have a question which doesn't conform to any of the categories.

Hi drinck48. If your question doesn't match up with one of the specific categories, I would suggest contacting Membership Services. They should be able to answer most of your questions or direct you to the appropriate department.

New book available to AAA customers

Status: New Idea
by 1912jlo on ‎07-15-2012 08:36 PM

Hi, my name is Jerry Lopez.  I am an ASE master Tech, and recently published Driver Tips. This book is not a "do-it yourself" guide. I wrote it to build trust between repair shops and customers. The book is available through barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com, however, I would love to personally send you a copy. If this is possible, where could I send it? I would be honored if AAA, a company I highly respect, would recommend my book to new drivers or customers, or use it as a giveaway gift to your customers.

Reading  AAA member's response,  to  varying, category questions...I''d like to suggest  a contest.... Many of the responses were ""top shelf." Well written.

Why not give AAA Community  Members a "shot" at " writing with the "Big Guys ./ Gals. The AAA Community staff sets guidelines. All members ( Except Professional Writers ) have the opportunity to accept the challenge.

Solicit  FEATURE STORY SUGGESTIONS ( along with a brief synopsis) Community Staff makes final decision.

Entry winner will not be announced until his / her  AAA MAGAZINE FEATURE  STORY is published.

P.S. Not sure of  AAA MAGAZINE writing guidelines...Hey..It's a bodaciously good thought anyway..! Right ? RIGHT !!!

It is a bodaciously good idea, Norm! But maybe we ought to start with a couple of full-length guest blogs. Depending on how that goes, we could consider a full-length article in Going Places. Anyone who is interested in guest blogging should email or instant message me.

Most of my buying decisions are based on user reviews for products and services. I wasn't able to find these because I was so excited to share a positive experience at Miami quality auto repair in Miami, Fl. Please add this option when looking up services. Helps everyone decide where to go.

I got a nice renewal note thanking me for being a loyal memeber for 6 years and saying I can add a family member for $53 based on being a PLUS member. However, on your webiste, to entice new members, a PLUS member can be added for just $23. I know, I know, companies always want to do something special for new members, why bother offering any discounts or incentives to us long-term guys? Well, the alternative I will check out is to see if I drop AAA and become a NEW member with some other club, maybe THEY will give me a break!

SO - my suggestion, why not offer some loyalty rewards too, say for members who pass the 5 year mark or something???
