Planning a road trip? AAA’s Digest of Motor Laws will give you the lowdown on traffic laws in your destination.

The kids are out of school, you have a week’s vacation planned and everything is packed. But if you’re taking an out-of-state trip, are you familiar with traffic laws you’ll encounter in other states?

Traffic laws, of course, vary from state to state. Perhaps you need to know speed limits in South Dakota or trailer regulations in Wisconsin. AAA’s Digest of Motor Laws has nearly everything you want to know about laws, rules and fees related to driving.

The electronic version of these driving laws is a free resource. It’s updated throughout the year as states make changes to laws. It highlights traffic regulations and laws governing car towing, bicycles, motorcycles and mopeds.

So before you embark on your summer trip, review the Digest. By knowing the rules of the road, you’ll be able to enjoy your trip even more.

Learn more from these resources on traffic laws, including distracted driving bans.

A version of this story appears in the July/August 2015 issue of AAA Living magazine.
